South Australia and the Northern Territory will lose a cleaning company after Phoenix Cleaning and Maintenance was placed into liquidation today.
Employing approximately 300 staff, at this stage of proceedings it is unsure just how many will be back to job hunting as a result.
Liquidators have been appointed to the struggling company and a meeting of creditors will be held next week.
They currently have contracts with the South Australian Government to clean buildings such as police stations and court houses and the hope is that the employees will be able to continue working with whoever takes over those deals.
However, things such as superannuation, which has not been paid, won’t be able to be retrieved while lost wages and annual leave entitlements can be collected through the Federal Government’s GEAR scheme.
